The upcoming Eko Revenue Plus Summit, organized by Modo Ante, aims to increase Lagos State’s revenue to N5 trillion by 2027. Scheduled for September in Lagos, the summit seeks to explore technological and innovative solutions to drive this ambitious target.

Joko Okupe, Chief Executive Officer of Modo Ante, emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to unlock new revenue streams. He stated, “By leveraging technology and innovation, we can unlock ‘new money’ that will enhance Lagos State’s ability to provide better social amenities and economic opportunities for Lagosians.”

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Lagos recorded N400 billion in internally generated revenue as of mid-2023. Okupe noted that the summit will focus on enhancing income streams from existing revenue sources and identifying new revenue opportunities. The priority sectors for revenue growth include property, digital economy, informal sector, energy sector, and circular economy, with the energy sector serving as a catalyst for economic development.

The summit will also address transforming government entities that currently generate minimal revenue into value-added service providers. Okupe highlighted the potential of using technology to improve public service delivery and increase efficiency.
