Lagos To Ban Sachet Water, Others From 2025 | Daily Report Nigeria

  • The Lagos state government has revealed the future plans of prohibiting the use and circulation of sachet water from January, 2025.

  • This ban, which was confirmed during a meeting on Thursday, October 3 is said to include the BA on single-use plastics too.

The Lagos state government has once again added some things in its list of products/services which are banned in the state.

Confirming the update during a stakeholders workshop, the State commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab revealed the governments plans on implementing ban o Styrofoam and single-use plastics (SUPs) for packaging on Thursday, October 3.

He added that this ban is part of a bigger strategy for managing plastic waste, and decrease spread of diseases in the state, and further promote a healthier and more sustainable environment

 

However, stakeholders have urged the government to consider a phased implementation rather than an outright ban. They believe this will ensure better compliance and ease the burden during current economic challenges
