Barcelona president, Joan Laporta has lambasted the club’s forward,Ousmane Dembele.

The Spanish politician banged the France international over his decision to remain at Camp Nou for the rest of the season.

The 59-year-old blasted the former Borussia Dortmund star, saying the player’s choice to stay at the club made no sense to him.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old whose contract with Blaugrana terminates at the end of the ongoing season has turned down a new contract offered to him by the club.

Perhaps, his refusal of the offer was due to the interest from different giant clubs including the current Champions League holders, Chelsea.

Barca had already asked Dembele to use the exit door out of the club before the closure of the January transfer window.

And since his move to any of the interested candidates could not succeed in January, Dembele will, therefore, have to depart Barca during the next summer transfer window.

Laporta was by Goal to have said: “We presented him with two proposals and they were good.”

“We are very surprised that he did not accept. The last one was from an English club and he did not want to go, he preferred to stay here for six months.”

“It is not good neither for him nor for the club, because his renewal gave us a salary margin and we would not have been having to work until the last minute.”
