Lamido, in a statement posted on his official Facebook page, reacted to a viral report suggesting that he had directed his legal team to discontinue his suit following a meeting with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde. The report claimed he had expressed support for the convention.

The former governor dismissed the claim, stressing that no such directive was given.

“The story/statement attributed to me below is false,” he said, adding that members of the PDP across the country had been calling him over the misinformation allegedly being circulated at the Ibadan convention venue.

According to Lamido, a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja delivered a judgement around 2:30 pm on Friday affirming his right to contest for the PDP national chairmanship — a right he said had initially been denied by the party.

He maintained that the same court issued an order stopping the Ibadan convention scheduled for 15th and 16th November 2025, pending the party’s compliance with the ruling. “A certified order stopping the Ibadan Convention has already been delivered to INEC and PDP. Disregard the story below in its entirety,” he stated.

Lamido further noted that the order also prevents the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from supervising or observing the planned convention until the court’s directives are obeyed.
