Lassa Fever: Edo Confirms 10 New Cases

Lassa Fever: Edo Confirms 10 New Cases | Daily Report Nigeria

  • New cases of the dreaded Lassa Fever has been confirmed in Edo state.

  • 10 New Cases were confirmed in Etsako and Esan local government areas.

  • This brings the total confirmed cases in Edo state to 81.

The Edo state ministry of health has confirmed 10 New Cases of lassa fever in the state.

According to reports, these new cases were discovered in five different local councils areas in the state.

Daily Report Nigeria gathers that this latest cases has risen the number of confirmed cases in the state to 81, with eight deaths.

Confirming this to newsmen during the weekend, the Edo state Commissioner for Health, Prof. Obehi Akoria said the 81 Lassa Fever discoveries were made in Etsako West, Esan North East, Esan West, Akoko Edo, Etsako Central.

Others are Etsako East, two; Owan East, two; Akoko Edo, two; Ovia North East, one; Oredo, one, and Etsako Central LGA with one confirmed case.

We have continued to witness a steady rise in the number of confirmed cases and deaths from Lassa fever with ten new cases confirmed in five local councils in the state. We now have a total of 81 confirmed cases with eight deaths from the disease.” she said.

 

Akoria also enjoined people to comply with governments preventive measures, so as to prevent the pandemics from spreading than it already is.
