Laura Dahlmeier died on Monday when falling rocks struck her near the 5,700 m summit of Laila Peak in Pakistan’s Karakoram.

A certified mountain and ski guide, Dahlmeier retired in 2019 after a stellar biathlon career that included seven world-championship gold medals and historic sprint and pursuit victories at Pyeongchang 2018.
She then brought her insight to ZDF as a commentator.
