Lautaro Martinez expressed his disappointment in Romelu Lukaku over the recent Inter transfer saga.
The relationship between Inter and Lukaku had deteriorated as the club was in talks with Chelsea for the striker’s transfer, only to find out that Lukaku was also negotiating with their Serie A rivals, Juventus.
This led Inter to swiftly abandon the negotiations.
Reports indicated that Lukaku tried to mend fences with Inter and his former teammates, but they were unresponsive to his attempts.

Martinez, who was once Lukaku’s strike partner, criticized him for his “attitude” and revealed that Lukaku didn’t even respond to his calls during this tumultuous period.
“I was disappointed, that’s the truth. I tried calling him amidst the chaos, but he never answered me, just like he ignored my other teammates.
After sharing so many years together and going through so much, I felt let down.
Nonetheless, it’s his decision, and I wish him the best.
However, I never expected this kind of attitude,” Martinez expressed to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Despite the challenging situation, Martinez has been given the captain’s armband for the 2023-24 season, a position he eagerly embraces.
He feels ready to take on more responsibility both on and off the field.
He sees this honor as an opportunity to support his teammates and make a positive impact, even in the face of key players leaving the club.

Martinez takes pride in the responsibility and hopes to live up to the legacy of previous Inter captains, making everyone associated with the club proud of his efforts.
Meanwhile, Juventus is attempting to convince Chelsea to loan Lukaku with an option to buy, but Chelsea is firm on wanting a permanent sale.
As for Martinez, he is geared up for action in a pre-season friendly against Al-Nassr at the Nagai Stadium in Japan on Thursday.
