Human rights advocate, Harrison Gwamnishu, shared details of the abduction on Friday through a Facebook post. He explained that the victims were taken from Irogboli’s residence, which is located in a remote and bushy part of the area.
“Barr Emeka I. Irogboli, a practicing lawyer residing in Ibusa, Delta State, was kidnapped alongside a solar panel Engineer who was working at his residence,” Gwamnishu wrote.
In a follow-up video, he highlighted the isolation of the lawyer’s home, stating that it is situated over 20 minutes from the town, making it particularly vulnerable to attacks.
Calling for action, Gwamnishu urged the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) in Delta State to get involved in efforts to assist the family. “This is a call to the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Delta State chapter to reach out to the family and find alternatives in rescuing their own,” he appealed.
He also raised the alarm over the kidnappers’ threats, saying, “The kidnappers are threatening to take their lives if their demands are not met.” He concluded his message with a cautionary note: “Secure your home and protect yourselves.”
Police authorities in the state are aware of the situation. When contacted, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, said the matter is being looked into.
