Lazio’s Sporting Director, Angelo Fabiani, has confirmed that the club is nearing the signing of Arsenal’s Nuno Tavares.

Tavares, who spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, is poised to join the Italian club initially on loan this summer, with a permanent deal expected at the end of the season.

Fabiani discussed the progress, stating to the Evening Standard: “[Tavares] is a player who the club is very interested in. Talks between the clubs reached an agreement yesterday. However, before finalizing the deal, several aspects need to be ironed out, including negotiations with the player’s agents.”

He added cautiously, “I’m very confident, but out of superstition, I won’t say he’s officially a Lazio player just yet.”
