League Match Gets Postponed in Ukraine, See Why! | Daily Report Nigeria

Authorities of the Ukrainian Premier League has announced the postponement of one of this weekend’s fixtures after players tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The league match between Karpaty Lviv and Mariupol which was slated to be played on Sunday, in the country’s Western city of Lviv was pushed further after the test results.

According to a statement by the league authorities, several of Karpaty first team players as well as non playing staff tested positive for the lethal virus, forcing a swift decision to contain a further spread.

While the total number of those who tested positive for Covid-19 was not clearly stated, the body revealed that all of them are under isolation.

The Ukranian season is resuming this weekend from a two months break following the the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Nine rounds of matches remain Ukrainian top division for ongoing league season.

All fixtures remaining are to be played in empty stadiums as are barred from attending sporting activities till further notice.

All players and match officials to be involved in the remaining league games will be made to have temperature checks before kickoff of every game.

As at Saturday, Ukraine had confirmed a total of 23,204 coronavirus cases with a death toll of 696.
