LG Autonomy Ruling a Distraction from Nigeria’s Real Issues –Makinde

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has expressed his thoughts on the Supreme Court’s judgment granting local government autonomy.

In a recent video, Makinde emphasized that the focus on LG autonomy is a distraction from the more pressing issues facing Nigeria, such as productivity, hunger, and anger.

“The judgment of the Supreme Court on local government autonomy is a distraction. We must face the real issues that we have. The issue that we have is that we are not producing enough. We are not productive,” Makinde said.

This statement comes after the Supreme Court ruled in favor of local government autonomy, granting the 774 local government councils in Nigeria the constitutional right to manage their finances autonomously without interference from state governments.
