The chairman of Batagarawa Local Government in Katsina State, Mr Bala Garba Tsanni, has been remanded in prison custody by a Magistrate court in Katsina over alleged murder, abduction, and culpable homicide.

The chairman and 11 others were arraigned before the court for the alleged murder of the village head of Dabaibayawa, Alhaji Dikko Ahmad.

All the accused were charged under sections 59, 249, and 189 of the Katsina penal code law.

Earlier, the Magistrate Abdulkarim Umar had directed the police to produce the accused in court on January 25, 2024.

The other 11 accused persons had been in prison custody for the past six months while the chairman was on bail throughout the period.

On Thursday, January 25, 2024, the police presented the accused before the court after concluding their investigation on the matter.

Thereafter, the chief Magistrate ordered for the chairman’s remand in prison custody till March 7, 2024.
