Libya has deported 13 foreign nationals, including seven Nigerians, three Bangladeshis, and three Ghanaians, after they were detained for entering the country illegally.

The deportees, who had been held at the Qanfoudah Immigration Detention Center, were flown out of Libya on Tuesday via Benina International Airport in Benghazi.

The Department for Combating Illegal Migration (DCIM) in Libya confirmed the deportations in a statement shared by Migrant Rescue Watch on its social media handle. According to the statement, all 13 individuals were expelled for violating the country’s immigration laws.

“DCIM deported from Qanfoudah Immigration Detention Center 13 migrants (Bangladesh 3, Ghana 3, Nigeria 7) via Benina International Airport in Benghazi. All individuals were deported for violating laws in force in the Libyan state,” the statement read.
