Lionel Messi Breaks Records, Leads Argentina to Copa America Final

Lionel Messi

Argentina captain Lionel Messi has surpassed Brazilian legends Cafu and Roberto Carlos by reaching his seventh international final, a new record. Cafu and Carlos each reached six finals for Brazil during their careers.

The 37-year-old also moved past Iran’s Ali Daei on the all-time international goals list, becoming the second-highest scorer with 109 goals, only behind Cristiano Ronaldo’s 130.

Before surpassing Daei, Messi tied his record of 108 goals with two goals in a 4-1 win over Guatemala just before the Copa America began.
