Inter Miami star Lionel Messi has made Major League Soccer (MLS) history by setting a new record for the most goal contributions and assists in a single match during his team’s emphatic 6-2 victory over the New York Red Bulls at Chase Stadium on Saturday night.

The former Barcelona player delivered an outstanding performance, contributing to six goals and providing five assists, reinforcing his superstar status in the league.

Lionel Messi has now scored and assisted in six consecutive league matches, a record-breaking achievement in MLS history.

Inter Miami head coach Gerardo Martino couldn’t help but praise Messi’s incredible performance, calling it a historic moment for MLS.

“All the goals were crucial, but Leo did something historic tonight with five assists and one goal,” Martino said in his post-match interview.

He continued, “But I can’t overlook Suarez’s three goals and Rojas’ two goals. The first Rojas goal was spectacular.”

“But for the technical brilliance of Leo’s assist, my favorite would be Luis Suárez’s scissor goal,” Martino added.
