According to Football Italia, Lookman requested not to be called up for Atalanta’s Serie A opener against Lecce on Monday. Our correspondent confirmed that he was not listed for the trip. This situation mirrors that of his compatriot Victor Osimhen, who also missed Napoli’s game against Hellas Verona due to a potential transfer to PSG or Chelsea.

Lookman has been in fine form for Atalanta, scoring 32 goals and providing 18 assists in 79 appearances. His absence would be a significant blow to coach Gian Piero Gasperini, who is already without Teun Koopmeiners and has injuries to key players.

“We can’t afford to lose our most prized asset,” said a source close to the club. Atalanta is hoping to keep Lookman for the season, but his head has been turned by the interest from PSG.
