Lucky Aiyedatiwa Emerges Winner of Ondo APC Governorship Primary

Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the governor of Ondo State has emerged as the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward primary election on Saturday.

Aiyedatiwa secured 48,569 votes, surpassing fellow contenders Mayowa Akinfolarin (15,343 votes) and Olusola Oke (14,865 votes).

The Chairman of the Governorship Primary Election Committee, Ahmed Ododo confirmed the direct mode of primary election across all 203 electoral wards in the state.

Ododo announced that Aiyedatiwa won in 16 out of 18 LGAs, with Ilaje LGA going to third-placed Oke. However, incidents of violence in Ifedore led to result cancellations.

Controversy surrounds the process, with aspirant Folakemi Omogoroye calling for its annulment due to alleged irregularities and the absence of election officials and materials at voting centers.

She said:

I am not going to accept it, and now, I am calling for cancellation and if this is not done, maybe we’ll meet in the court.”
