LUTCF Launches Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme in Warri | Daily Report Nigeria

The Light UP The Creek Foundation (LUTCF) has launched a scholarship program for undergraduate students in Warri, specifically aimed at assisting those from the creek who face financial difficulties in paying their school fees.

Chief Favour Izoukumor, the Chairman and Founder of the Foundation, officially launched the scheme and presented a symbolic cheque of 250,000 Naira to eight beneficiaries, during a ceremony held at the Foundation’s head office on Saturday, October 26, 2024.

He underscored the significance of the scheme in improving basic literacy and addressing the detrimental effects of illiteracy that have plagued the creek and its neighboring towns for many years.

He encouraged the beneficiaries to be proud ambassadors of their backgrounds. He stated that: “Your background is your foundation, not your limitation. Build on it, don’t be bound by it.”

Barr. Ajeni Anthony, Secretary of the Foundation, emphasized, “Creek literacy is a notable concern. That’s why our Chairman and Founder, Chief Favour Izoukumor, has tasked us with the responsibility of fostering an environment where education is accessible to all, ensuring that no student is left behind due to financial constraints.”

He expressed optimism that the scheme would help placate the financial pressures associated with obtaining quality education.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Miss. Avwunudiogba Tina remarked that the scholarship would significantly ease their financial burdens and allow them to focus more on their studies.

She accentuated that education is not just a personal benefit but a communal investment that would ultimately contribute to the development of the creek and its people.

The Beneficiaries are:
1. Avwunudiogba Tina
2. Sene Preye
3. Ezeugo Nicholas Godday
4. Erete Ayapere
