A High Court in Edo State, on Monday, ordered a 25-year-old maid, Dominion Okoro to die by hanging for the murder of Madam Maria Oredola Igbinedion, mother of former Governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Igbinedion.
Okoro was charged with killing her Boss with a stool to rob her of the sum of N100, 000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira).
According to the court, the convict told the police that she prepared a meal for her Boss with Indian hemp to help execute her without struggle.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on
December 1, 2021, at Igbinedion’s residence in Ugbor Community, Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State.
Justice Efe Ikponmwoba of the Court noted that the convict used cotton wool to stroke the nose of the deceased afterwards, and called a cab man to escape from the house early the following morning.
The judge, therefore held that the evidence of the Pathologist on the cause of death, evidence of other Prosecution witnesses in addition to the convict’s confessional statement, it was safe for the court to send the convict to the gallows.
The Court noted in the case of Patience Okoro, elder sister of the convict, that the only evidence linking her with the case was that Dominion Okoro called her to inform her after committing the act.
Patience, however, was discharged and acquitted of the charge of offence of accessory after murder, according to the court.
