The command’s spokesperson, Nahum Kenneth Daso, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that preliminary investigations point to coordinated bombings.
The explosions reportedly struck Monday Market Maiduguri, the gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, and the Post Office Flyover Maiduguri.
A combined team of police tactical units, military personnel, and other security agencies was swiftly deployed to the affected areas.
Authorities said the scenes were secured and cordoned off, while the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit carried out sweep operations to ensure no additional threats remained.
The Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, visited the scenes for an on-the-spot assessment and expressed condolences to victims and their families.
Victims were evacuated by emergency responders, including the National Emergency Management Agency and the Borno State Emergency Management Agency, to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
Police said normalcy has been restored in the affected areas, while security has been intensified across the city to prevent further incidents.
Residents have been urged to remain calm, stay vigilant, and report any suspicious movements or objects to security agencies.
The command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and maintaining peace in the state.
