Caucus demands release of Osun LG funds, blasts FG over economic hardship
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains strong and undivided in the South-West, dismissing emerging political coalitions as “no threat” to the party’s dominance in the region.
Speaking to newsmen on Friday after a meeting of the PDP South-West Caucus at the party’s zonal secretariat, Makinde insisted that the PDP is an institution with the capacity to resolve its internal challenges and lead the charge to rescue Nigeria from “the stranglehold of the APC”.
“We Will Stay and Fix Our Roof”
Makinde likened the PDP to a house whose leaders would rather repair than abandon.

“This Soji Adagunodo House is for the PDP South-West. If the roof is leaking, as leaders, we will stay and fix it. We are responsible leaders, and we have the interest of the people at heart,” he said.
He questioned the credibility of figures leading the coalition, asking:
“Who are these people in this coalition? They were in some parties before, whether PDP or APC. What are their antecedents? Have they repented, or do they have anything new to offer Nigerians?”
Caucus Rejects Coalition, Backs NWC
In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the South-West PDP leaders reaffirmed their loyalty to the National Working Committee (NWC), commended Governors Makinde and Nurudeen Adeleke, and pledged to intensify efforts for upcoming by-elections in Oyo and Ogun states and the Lagos LG polls.
They described the PDP as “the party of choice” in the zone and across Nigeria, warning the Federal Government to stop the “unconstitutional and unwarranted” withholding of Osun LG funds.

The caucus expressed “serious concern” over the worsening insecurity and economic hardship under the APC government.
“The 2027 election will be between Nigerians and the APC, and Nigerians will triumph under the PDP banner,” the communiqué said.
The meeting was attended by Osun Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi (representing Adeleke), former Osun governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and other key leaders.
