Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has accused Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, of abusing power and weakening the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across the South-West.

Fayose alleged that Makinde’s leadership style fractured the party’s base in the region, drove away loyal members and dismantled long-standing party structures.

Speaking in an interview, the former governor claimed that many party members who worked for Makinde’s emergence were later sidelined.

“Almost everybody who laboured for his ascension has been driven away,” Fayose said, accusing the Oyo governor of consolidating power around himself.

He further alleged that Makinde cornered valuable state assets, claiming that the governor took over choice lands in Oyo State, which he described as an abuse of office.

Fayose also blamed Makinde for the PDP’s declining cohesion in the South-West, alleging that the party had lost direction under his influence.

“Makinde has destroyed all PDP structures in the South-West,” he said.

Raising concerns about internal democracy, Fayose questioned the credibility of the PDP’s candidate selection process in Osun State, alleging that it was manipulated.

“A candidate who did not even buy a PDP form eventually became the candidate,” he claimed.

The former Ekiti governor also alleged that Makinde orchestrated an attack against him during a political event in Osun State, describing the Oyo governor as politically inexperienced.

Fayose, who described himself as an elder statesman within the PDP, said he governed Ekiti State without the backing of any godfather.

“I fought my governorship without a godfather,” he said.

On his political alignment, Fayose openly declared loyalty to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

“I am a Wike person. Anywhere Wike is, that is where I am,” he stated.

Despite the internal crisis rocking the PDP, Fayose ruled out defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting he would never join the party.
