Man Abscond After Beating Two-year-old Son to Death in Bayelsa

A man has absconded after beating his two-year-old son to death in Bayelsa state.

The man, Vwede, was said to have brutay beaten his son, he then took him to an hospital along Rushmore Hotel road when he lost consciousness.

The incident was said to have happened along Imiringi road in Yenagoa, the state capital on Sunday, September 26.

The father was said to have absconded after the news of the death of his son was delivered to him. The hospital staff then contacted the police and non-governmental organisation Do Foundation which is involved  in the campaign against gender violence and protection of the child.

Confirming the incident, spokesperson of the state Police Command, SP Asinim Butswat, said the father had ran away, and his whereabouts are unknown at the moment.
