A 34-year-old man identified as Iliya Adamu, has committed suicide after he was accused of stealing his brother’s N40,000.

The incident happened in a village in Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

It was gathered that Adamu’s corpse was found dangling on a tree in a nearby bush in the community.

He was said to have committed suicide because he could not withstand being mocked and called a thief after his yet-to-be-identified brother reportedly accused him of stealing the N40,000 kept in a family safe.

Following his disappeared for two days, his family members alongside neighbours launched a search for him in the community.

They, however, found his lifeless body in the bush two days after he went missing.

Sources in the community also said a container of insecticide was found under the tree where his corpse was found.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who confirmed the incident said, the command is investigating the suicide.
