A Nigerian man recently returned from abroad has accused the United Bank for Africa (UBA) of wiping out N150 million from his account based on claims that he was deceased.
The startling allegation was made public during a live video call with human rights advocate Gwamnishu Harrison, who has pledged to pursue legal action on the man’s behalf.
According to the returnee—whose identity remains undisclosed—the incident happened in 2023 while he was residing overseas. He said he had been consistently depositing funds into his UBA account, making contributions about five times a year.

The man further revealed that when he visited the bank to seek clarification, police officers were already present, allegedly prepared to arrest him. He claimed his only offense was raising his voice out of disbelief and distress upon hearing the news.
Harrison has vowed to take legal steps to ensure the matter is thoroughly investigated and justice is served.
