Operatives of the Katsina police command have arrested a man for the alleged kidnap of a young boy in the state.
According to reports, the suspect, identified as Halilu Yusuf, a 21-year-old was said to have lured the victim, who happened to be the son of his mentor, from Kofar-Sauri quarters.

Confirming the arrest to newsmen on Wednesday, the spokesperson of the command, ASP Abubakar Aliyu said Halilu was said to have kept the boy in his room after which, he took him to another place for safe keeping, not knowing that police operatives were trailing him.
He said,
“On August 17, at about 2pm, based on credible intelligence, the command succeeded in arresting Halilu Yusuf, 21, of Gezawa, via Shinkafi village, in connection with a suspected case of kidnapping a six-year-old.”

He added that the suspect made an anonymous call, notifying the father of his son’s abduction, while also demanding #2 million
“Upon receipt of the report, the command quickly mobilised the operatives led by the DPO GRA, Katsina and swung into action.
The team successfully traced and arrested the suspect, and the victim was rescued unhurt,” he said.
The PPRO added that the suspect confessed to the crime, and he’d be charged to court upon completion of the interrogations.
