- Activist urges the Nigerian Senate to reject Reno Omokri’s ambassadorial nomination over alleged inconsistencies.
- Claims Omokri “lacks integrity” and should not represent Nigeria on the global stage.
- Accuses Omokri of giving conflicting statements about his identity and heritage.
- Calls for a nominee who represents the true character of the Niger Delta and Urhobo people.
A Niger Delta activist, Comrade Onoriode Umukoro, has appealed to the Nigerian Senate to reject the ambassadorial nomination of Reno Omokri, insisting that the former presidential aide is unfit to serve Nigeria in any diplomatic capacity.
In a strongly worded statement, Umukoro said the Senate must not overlook what he described as Omokri’s “deep inconsistencies” and “conflicting stories about his own identity.” According to him, anyone who cannot speak truthfully about their own heritage cannot be trusted to represent the country on the world stage.

Umukoro accused Omokri of “talking from two sides of his mouth,” citing recent social media posts in which Omokri claimed his first name was Bemigho and that he was the son of a man named Jolomi. He contrasted this with an earlier tweet in which Omokri acknowledged being the son of Justice Jean Omokri, an Urhobo man who was buried in Igun community of Agbon Kingdom.
“Someone who can lie about his own roots lacks the basic integrity to lead his Osusu meeting, let alone represent Nigeria before foreign governments,” Umukoro said.
He also argued that despite being Urhobo by ancestry, Omokri does not represent the interests or values of the Niger Delta region. He claimed Omokri has never voted in Delta State and often expresses views that alienate large ethnic groups, including the Igbo.
“He is an anti-Igbo, Yoruba-leaning man who doesn’t reflect the true nature of our people. That is not the kind of voice we want speaking for us internationally,” Umukoro added.

The activist urged Senate President Godswill Akpabio and all lawmakers to return the nomination to the presidency so that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu can choose “a true Urhobo patriot who is proud of his heritage.”
“Mr. President should send someone who genuinely represents the Niger Delta, someone grounded, consistent, and honest. Not a man ashamed of where he comes from,” he said.
The statement has continued to circulate widely on social media, shared by platforms such as Instablog9ja, AIT Online, Legit.ng, News Central, and Vanguard.
