Man In Court, After Using Stolen Money To Pay Wife's Dowry | Daily Report Nigeria
  • A man has been arraigned in court after allegedly stealing from his employer.

  • Daily Report Nigeria gathers that the man was said to have stolen the sum of K10,000 in Zambia, for the purpose of paying dowry.

Report reaching Daily Report Nigeria shows that the accused, simply identified as Francis Mvula, from Lusaka was accused of having stolen from his boss, the Savender Group of Companies managing director.

 

While being arraigned before the Lusaka magistrate, Jennipher Bwalya, the prosecuting counsel, Henry Shawa, 44, a police officer told the court that he received a report of theft from Reagan Sichone that an employee of Savenda Group of companies stole US$2,000, K10,000, an industrial cable, an insect trapper, four bottles of perfume from the managing director’s premises.

He added that the employer suspected Francis of the theft after being caught flashing dollar notes on social media.

 

He afterwards went to the suspects house, where he was found in company of his friends. He said he asked Francis’s friends to leave, and proceeded to investigate him concerning the theft.

According to the police officer, the suspect, Francis Mvula, first denied stealing the items, but unfortunately for him, four bottles of perfume were found in gis bedroom.

 

He afterwards allegedly admitted to stealing and using the money to pay a K5,000 dowry and another K5,000 spent on groceries.

He said he changed the $2,000 at a bureau where he got K20,000.

He allegedly used the K20,000 to buy a music system, purchased a makeshift shop at K12,500, bought a solar panel at K1,800, purchased goods worth K6,000 in Katete and bought clothes.

Francis before the magistrate, Bwalya denied stealing the items.
