Man Kills Reverend Sister Over Debt in Rivers

• A man has been arrested for the alleged murder of a woman in Rivers state.

• The man was alleged to have severely hit the victim, a Reverend sister to death over a debt.

Local vigilante group have apprehended one Kelvin Okoro, for the alleged murder of a Reverend sister in Rivers state.

According to reports, the man, identified as Kelvin Okoro who was unable to pay the debt he owes the deceased lured and proceeded to kill her.

This happened in in the Aluu community in the Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State.

It was gathered that the deceased, identified as Maureen Wecheonwu was lured by the suspect to a particular location, under the guise of being ready to pay his debt, and he proceeded to kill her there.

Confirming the incident to PUNCH, a source who pleaded anonymity said the reverend sister was found in a pool of her own blood, and local security operatives were alerted.

“What we heard was that he didn’t know how to repay the money. So he called the woman out in the guise of discussing the debt.

“The Reverend Sister has been complaining to people in the community that he refused to pay his debt. Not knowing his evil intentions, he took her to a lonely path and hit her severally with an object.”

The source added that suspicion arise after the remains of the woman was found, and Okoro couldn’t be located anywhere in the community.

Speaking further, the source said the Vigilante Commander in the Aluu community, Kingsley Wali led a search team to Okoro’s hideout where he was arrested and handed over to the police.

Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson of the state command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko said;

“Yes I can confirm. The matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department,”
