  • A new turn of event has unfolded, as a man gets arraigned for theft after receiving governor pardon.

  • The suspect, who was granted pardon few days ago, was rearrested for stealing a television.

  • He was arraigned and remanded in the Ilesa Correctional Centre.

A magistrate court in Osun state has heard the case of a man accused of theft.

Daily Report Nigeria recalls that the suspect, identified as Adebayo Sunday, a 27-year-old man had previously been arrested and was reportedly on death row for stealing a chicken.

Adebayo ‘s case came into limelight after he parents cried out to the governor to have mercy on him.

According to reports, his case was finalized ten days ago, and he was granted a pardon by the governor of Osun state, Ademola Adeleke.

In recent news, he has once again been arraigned for allegedly stealing a television worth 600,000.

He was reported to have committed the crime on January 5, 2025 in Osogbo, Osun state.

 

According to the charge obtained by Premium Times titled, “The Commissioner of Police vs Adebayo Omisakin Sunday ‘M’ Age 27 years,” it says;

Count 1: That you, Adebayo Omisakin Sunday, on the 3rd day of January 2025, at approximately 12:00 p.m. at Al-Medinat Area, Iludun, Osogbo, in the Osogbo Magisterial district, did break and enter the house of one Shittu Damilare and steal one plasma TV valued at the sum of N600,000, thereby committing an offense punishable under section 411 (1) (2) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34 Vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

 

Count II: That you Adebayo Omisakin Sunday ‘M’ and on the same date, time, and place in the Aforementioned Magisterial District did Steal one Plasma TV valued at the sum of N600,000 only property of one Shittu Damilare ‘M’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 383 and punishable under 390 (9) of Criminal Code Cap 34 Voi.ll laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

In the recent hearing on January 10, Magistrate Adeyeba adjourned the case, while also remanding the suspect.
