Man Remanded For Raping Wife's 17-Year-Old Sister In Ogun | Daily Report Nigeria

A man has faced a court of law after raping a minor in Ondo state.

According to reports, the accused, identified as Micheal Olorunfemi, 30, a motorcyclist was said to have raped his wife’s 17-year-old sister.

Olorunfemi, who is also a father of four was arraigned before a court in Ondo state on one count charge of unlawful sexual intercourse.

During the hearing, the prosecuting counsel, Inspector Taiwo Oniyere said the defendant committed the offence in August, 2024 in the Onigaari area of Irese Road, Akure.

 

Oniyere added that the crime goes against the Sections 357 and 358 of the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State, 2006

The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant to a correctional centre pending advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

 

In his statement to the police, which was read in court, the defendant confessed to committing the crime.

 

“I had s3xual intercourse with the victim in the bush,” the defendant said.

“The victim approached me to take her to her boyfriend’s house, and on our way, I stopped near a bush and r@ped her. I promised to give her money, which I did not. She then reported me to her mother, which led to my arrest.” 

 

Delivering her judgment, Magistrate Kolawole Aro said the defendant be b remanded in the Olokuta Correctional Centre and that the case file be transferred to the DPP for advice.

The court  of adjourned the case till October 31, 2024 for review
