One Oladeji Saheed was on Monday morning rescued by residents and men of the Osun State Fire Service after he attempted to commit suicide.

Oladeji was said to have jumped into River Osun from under the Gbodofon bridge in Osogbo in the early hours of Monday.
He was however, rescued through the combined efforts of residents, the Federal Fire Service and O’Ambulance personnel.

Also, a yet-to-be-identified woman last week jumped into the Osun River from Gbodofon bridge, reportedly after receiving a call.

It was gathered that Oladeji lives alone in Osogbo while his wife and children lives in Lagos.

The spokesperson of Osun State Fire Service, Ibraheem Adekunle, who confirmed the incident, said residents informed men of the Service that it was the third suicide attempt by Oladeji.

“We received a distress call, and men immediately moved to the scene. We rescued the man. He had already jumped into the river.

“People said the latest attempt by the man, who gave his name as Saheed Oladeji, was his third attempt to take his life,” Adekunle said.
