Man Returns Late Father’s N300k Salary to Kano Government

A man identified as Yusuf Sulaiman Sumaila in Kano State has returned the salary of his late father to the state government.

Sumaila was praised by Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf for his commendable act.

He told Yusuf that his father passed away in October 2022, yet the state government continued to pay his salary until August 2023.

Upon realizing the above, Sumaila promptly returned the sum of N328,115.75 to the government, highlighting the fact that his father had passed away a year ago.

Abdullahi Ibrahim, spokesperson to the governor on Digital Media, disclosed the governor’s appreciation for Sumaila’s remarkable gesture.

The Governor urged other young individuals to follow Sumaila’s example and uphold the value of honesty.

The statement read on X:

Yusuf stated that the state government had continued paying his late father’s salary into his account after his death in October 2022 until August 2023, when he made an official request for the payment to be stopped.

“To the governor’s satisfaction, Yusuf also requested to return the backlog of 328,115.75 to the government, for which the governor personally invited him to his office to thank him.”
