A 36-year-old man, on June 26, reportedly burnt down a local church in the village of Pargolovo after conflicting with his wife.
Reports gathered that the yet-to-be-properly identified man fought his wife because she kept donating all their money to the church of St. Basil the Great in Russia’s Saint Petersburg District.
He put a canister of gasoline in the trunk of his car on Sunday morning, drove down to the church, splashed the walls with fuel then set it ablaze after making sure no one was inside.

The fire quickly engulfed the wooden roof and walls of the building. The entire place would have probably burned to a crisp until it was rescued.
Some earlier believed the fire was caused by a short circuit due to faulty electrical wiring, while others believed it was a divine sign to build a larger, more beautiful church before the police to find the true culprit.
“He worked 24/7, they have four children and his wife works at the church. Everything he earned, she brought to the temple,
“Because of this, they had a conflict. He realized that he would either do something to his wife or burn the temple,” a source said.
He, upon the arrival of police authorities, accepted the crime and asked to be detained.
The case, however, remained pending as the judge decided to release him until sentencing is passed.
