This happened in Asa Umudim in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia State in the early hours of Saturday, May 17, 2025,
The man was said to have doused his family memebrs in a flammable substance, and proceeded to set his house on fire.
This assault led to the death of one of his daughters, while his two other children, as well as his wife were rushed to the hospital and are in critical conditions.
A local who confirmed the incident noted that the man was about to be lynched when the police came in and took him into custody.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Maureen Chinaka said the man has been arrested, and investigations are ongoing.
The bodies of the deceased have been evacuated and taken to the morgue.

Security operatives have apprehended a suspected kidnapper, Yahaya Zango, at the Hajj camp located near the airport in Abuja, according to a report by Daily Trust.
A security source at the camp disclosed that the suspect was arrested on Sunday during the routine screening of pilgrims scheduled to be airlifted to Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj exercise.
