A man, Adamu Sanusi from Kaduna State has reportedly stabbed his elder brother, Nurudeen who advised him to quit smoking.
Sanusi was on Thursday arraigned before a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court by
Inspector Chidi Leo after he stabbed his brother in his chest with a broken bottle.
25-year-old Sanusi was faced with two-count of assault and causing harm. However, he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Leo maintained that the defendant stabbed Nurudeen in the chest with a broken bottle after a disagreement.
The prosecutor maintained that the defendant committed the offence on April 28 around 7:45 pm at their residence
According to him, the elder brother had advised the defendant to quit smoking and stop being a nuisance but the defendant got angry and an altercation occurred.
He said:
“In the process, the defendant broke a bottle and stabbed his brother in the chest and he was hospitalised.”
The inspector insisted that the offence contravened Section 244 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, in his ruling, granted the defendant N200,000 bail with two sureties each in like sum.
Emmanuel clarified that the sureties must be blood relations of the defendant and must be gainfully employed, and must show evidence of tax payments to the state government.
He further adjourned the case till June 19 for mention.
