Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt has been offered a five-year contract by Manchester United, according to Sky Germany. De Ligt, who is interested in the move, has had initial discussions with United regarding a potential transfer.

Erik ten Hag, who previously coached De Ligt at Ajax, is eager to bring the 24-year-old to Old Trafford next season. Bayern Munich values the defender at €50m (£42.4m), including add-ons.

Manchester United also maintains an interest in England defender Jarrad Branthwaite but will only pursue him if Everton lowers their asking price.
