  • Traders in popular shopping arena, Mandilas have expressed dissatisfaction and anger, as they go out to protest.

  • The traders, who expressed concerns over the constant landlord and developers policies have taken to the street.

The Mandilas shopping arena has witnessed a different wave of events today, as traders troop out to protest.

While speaking with Daily Report Nigeria, a representative of the group, Sen Ajibola Emmanuel expressed his deep concern at the treatments of traders.

 

According to him, some of these treatments include Unfair evictions, Lack of basic amenities, Treats and intimidation among others.

Today, November 4, 2024, the traders hit the street with placards and cardboards, as they call on the Lagos state government and other agencies to come to their aids.

“URGENT CALL TO ACTION

TO: The Lagos State Government

FROM: Mandilas Traders Association

SUBJECT: Urgent Attention Needed: Oppression by Developer Landlords

We the MANDILAS TRADER’S bring to your urgent attention the plight of traders in Lagos State who are facing harassment, intimidation and exploitation by developer & landlords by using LABGA to taste the building and call for demolished immediately they patch and renovate the building with immediate addiction fee for rentals this is very sardonic and barbaric and injustice to Mandilas trader’s association

ISSUES:

1. Exorbitant Rent Demands

2. Unfair Evictions

3. Lack of Basic Amenities

4. Threats and Intimidation

 

REQUESTS:

1. Immediate Investigation into these Allegations

2. Enforcement of the Lagos Tenancy Law

3. Protection for Traders from Unfair Practices from developer’s

4. Provision of Affordable and Suitable Trading Spaces

 

RECOMMENDATIONS:

1. Establish a Special Task Force to Address Landlord-Tenant Disputes

2. Conduct Regular Inspections of Markets and Trading Areas

TIME FOR ACTION IS NOW!

We urge the Lagos State Government to take immediate action to address these issues and ensure a conducive business environment for Mandilas trader’s in Lagos state.
