Spanish outlet El Nacional says Barca’s hierarchy are concerned by Rashford’s slow start and are considering ending the season-long deal early.
Rashford moved to Barcelona in July on a season-long deal after falling out of favour at Manchester United.
He has appeared in Barcelona’s opening LaLiga matches but has yet to register a goal or an assist.
In his first full start he was substituted at half-time as Barca trailed Levante 2–0 on August 23; the side later recovered to win 3–2 without him on the pitch.
These limited contributions have reportedly fed into doubts over the Marcus Rashford loan.
If Barcelona ends the deal early, the move would likely trigger a compensation clause and create sporting and financial consequences for both clubs and the player.
Right now, Barca coach Hansi Flick wants the England international to settle in and prove his value, but time is short for him to adapt quickly to LaLiga and meet the club’s expectations.
This is a developing story, and we’ll watch for official comments from Barcelona, Manchester United or the player’s camp.
The Marcus Rashford loan saga could still shift quickly.
