The Enugu State Police Command has apprehended a masquerade, identified as Ugwuoke Ebube, 22, for physically assaulting a female nurse at Ugwuoye Junction in Nsukka metropolis.
According to a statement released by the command’s spokesman, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, on Thursday, the arrest was made by police operatives from the Nsukka Sector of the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad on May 12 at approximately 3:45 pm.

Investigations revealed that the suspect was part of a group of masqueraders involved in a similar assault on another female nurse in April, which was captured in a viral video. The suspect was arraigned in the Nsukka Magistrate Court and granted bail.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Kanayo Uzuegbu has strongly condemned the assault and warned those who may attempt to use cultural celebrations as a cover for criminal activities to desist.

Uzuegbu stressed that the Command will not hesitate to bring anyone found guilty to justice, as seen in this case.
