The letter states that his posts “have been made in a tone and manner that transcend mere defamation, constituting ridicule, unwarranted and harmful behaviour, and malicious threats, while also spreading demonstrably false allegations.”
May also alleges that Ugwuonye operates several online platforms, including a WhatsApp group, with the purpose of tarnishing her image. She further accused him of sharing her confidential information for financial gain.
The letter added that Ugwuonye misrepresented himself as her legal representative without proper authorization. “By so doing, you deceitfully exploited our client’s unawareness, held yourself out in a fraudulent manner, and are now making illegitimate profit from her privileged information in addition to your defamatory publications,” it read.
She also claimed that his actions have prompted others to spread the false content, worsening the impact on her reputation.
May Edochie is demanding the immediate removal of all harmful posts, a public retraction and apology, and ₦1 billion in damages.
