  • Meningitis has killed 26 people in Kebbi State, Nigeria, with 248 cases reported.

  • The Kebbi State Government has established isolation centers and is working to prevent further spread.

  • Meanwhile, Lagos State has confirmed 14 cases of Diphtheria, with one fatality, and has begun vaccination efforts.

A meningitis outbreak in Kebbi State, Nigeria, has claimed 26 lives, with 248 cases reported, according to the state’s Commissioner for Health, Comrade Yunusa Musa Isma’ila.

The commissioner announced that isolation centers have been established in affected areas and urged residents to report any symptoms to nearest health facilities.

In Lagos State, 14 cases of Diphtheria have been confirmed, with one fatality recorded, according to the Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi.

The state government has launched an emergency vaccination exercise for students and staff members at King’s College Annex, Victoria Island, where the cases were reported.

Abayomi assured parents and the public that the situation was under control, stating, “We have provided diphtheria-tetanus vaccines and are ensuring that all students and staff members get vaccinated.”

He emphasized the importance of personal and environmental hygiene, urging students to adopt proper hand-washing habits and report any symptoms promptly.
