Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court in Lagos has granted music producer and former manager of gospel artist Mercy Chinwo, Ezekiel Onyedikachi (also known as EeZeeTee), bail in the sum of N20 million, following his arrest on charges of forex transaction fraud.

The bail, which was granted on Friday, comes after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) accused EeZeeTee of engaging in a $255,000 fraudulent foreign exchange deal.

The judge set a condition requiring the defendant to provide one surety who must reside in Lagos and own property valued at the bail amount.

EeZeeTee was previously released to his lawyer, Mr. Ojukwu Chikaosolu, and was given 72 hours to fulfill the bail requirements.

The EFCC initially filed a 14-count charge against the defendant for fraudulent conversion but later amended it to seven counts. The amended charges claim that EeZeeTee engaged in foreign exchange transactions without proper authorization from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The prosecution, led by Bilikisu Buhari-Bala, stated that in June 2023, EeZeeTee conducted a transaction involving $52,895 with Mr. Oladotun Olaobaju Mureke, which allegedly violated the Foreign Exchange (Monitoring and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2004.

EeZeeTee has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the trial has been scheduled for June 20, 2025.
