Mesut Ozil Reflects on Telepathic Connection with Ronaldo at Real Madrid

Former Germany international Mesut Ozil has reminisced about his near-telepathic understanding with Portugal icon Cristiano Ronaldo during their time together at Real Madrid.

Ronaldo and Ozil played together for three full seasons at Real Madrid before Ozil moved to Arsenal in the summer of 2013. They shared the pitch for 149 games, with both players combining for 39 goal contributions, of which Ronaldo scored 32.

During this period, they won three titles together, including one La Liga championship. Ronaldo played a total of 164 games in those three seasons, scoring an astounding 168 goals across all competitions, netting at least 53 times in each campaign.

Mesut Ozil, who has since retired from active football, reflected on his on-pitch connection with Ronaldo. He said, according to Madrid Xtra, “Cristiano Ronaldo understood me very well on the pitch. I used to give him a lot of assists, and he used to score a lot of goals.”
