  • Hon. Charles Anike, President of the Eastern Union, has condemned the ongoing killings in Benue and Plateau states, describing them as evidence of Nigeria’s failed security system.

  • He criticised the Federal Government for focusing on politics and party defections.

Hon. Charles Anike, the National President of the Eastern Union (EU), has strongly condemned the continued killings and attacks in Nigeria’s Middle Belt region, particularly in Benue and Plateau states.

He described the violence as a clear reflection of the Federal Government’s failure to secure the lives of citizens.

Speaking to newsmen over the weekend, Anike said, “The killings and incessant bloodshed in both Benue and Plateau states are the real reflection of the sabotage and failure of the Nigeria security system.”

He accused the Bola Tinubu-led government of being indifferent to the crisis, saying, “Unfortunately and shamefully too, our so-called Federal Government leadership is less concerned, rather busy concentrating welcoming defectors to their useless party.”

He questioned the government’s priorities, adding, “Why would the Federal Government not declare a state of emergency on the security across the country… instead, it rather preferred to declare a state of emergency in a state where there is mere disagreement between a godson and godfather.”

Anike further stated that the suffering of innocent Nigerians means little to the current administration, saying, “While the blood of innocent Nigerians is flowing like a river in Benue and Plateau means nothing to the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led federal government, their focus is on how to sustain the stolen mandate.”

He urged Nigerian youths to rise to the challenge: “The youths of those states and indeed the youths of the entire country must have to wake up from slumber to face the reality on ground… The way forward is for every community to organise and be battle ready to defend their fatherland.”
