Nollywood actress Mide Martins has shared a touching tribute in memory of her late mother, veteran actress Funmi Martins, marking 23 years since her passing.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Mide opened up about the enduring pain of the loss, describing her mother as “a rare gem” and “a real angel in human skin.” She spoke of the deep emotional void her mother’s absence continues to leave, even more than two decades later.

“23 years ago, like yesterday! Oluwafunmilayo Florence Anike mama mi. It’s been 23 years since I lost my beloved mama & best friend!” she wrote in the emotional post.

“You were indeed a rare gem! A real angel in human skin. I can’t express how much I miss you in words, Maami. Still think about you a lot, and every time I find myself shedding tears. The beautiful and precious memories of you will never be forgotten, and your impact on this world will never be erased. Continue to rest peacefully in the blossom of your creator, Anike. I love you forever, Iya mi onin’ure.”

In closing her tribute, Mide honoured her mother’s legacy, expressing eternal love and praying for her continued rest.

Funmi Martins, a prominent figure in Nollywood during her lifetime, passed away in 2002.
