Military Oil Theft Allegation: Osun Monarch Warns Asari Dokubo

Military Oil Theft Allegation: Osun Monarch Warns Asari Dokubo | Daily Report Nigeria

The Olowu of Kuta, HRH Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama, Tegbosun III, has warned former Niger Delta agitator, Asari Dokubo against making “unguarded” statements that could demoralize the Nigerian Military.

Recall that Dokubo after meeting President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa on Friday accused the military of being responsible for 99 per cent oil theft in the Niger Delta.

Tegbosun, responding to the above, warned Dokubo that any attempt to ridicule the military due to the actions of a few bad elements would be counterproductive.

According to him, building a country’s military to the standard that Nigeria has achieved takes a lot of effort.

The Monarch stated that sweeping statements, such as Dokubo’s claim that the military was responsible for oil theft in the Niger Delta, were not helpful.

He frowned upon such generalizations, stating that they do not reflect the reality of the situation.

While the Tegbosun appreciated Dokubo’s support for President Tinubu in recent months, he found the former agitator’s outburst about the military after the visit to be unbecoming.

He further cautioned Dokubo to be more mindful of his words and to avoid making statements that could undermine the efforts of the Nigerian Military.

He said;

The outburst of Dokubo that the military was responsible for the oil theft after his visit to Mr President is unbecoming. It’s a betrayal of trust. Why should he use the presidential press gallery to make such statement that’s capable of demoralising our military?

“If he has any information about some unscrupulous elements in the military involved in oil theft, he can pass it unto Mr President without that undue sensationalism. It’s uncalled for.

“With the supreme sacrifice our military had made and forces of insurgency and associated unrest across the country it’s grappling with daily in order to keep Nigeria as one, that statement is tantamount to breaking their spirit; it’s not the best.
