Their absence left both fans and league officials disappointed, prompting an immediate suspension under MLS rules.

Owner Jorge Mas didn’t hold back. “Messi is extremely upset. I don’t agree with the rule, and I’ve made my thoughts known to the commissioner very plainly,” – he said.
MLS insists the rule keeps every All-Star committed.
Critics counter that the league should cut marquee players some slack, especially someone of Messi’s stature with a packed schedule.
