  • This ban sidelines them for Inter Miami’s clash with FC Cincinnati.

  • Owner Jorge Mas called the rule unfair and said Messi is “extremely upset.”

Their absence left both fans and league officials disappointed, prompting an immediate suspension under MLS rules.

Inter Miami now faces a tough test: neither player can suit up for Saturday’s clash at FC Cincinnati.

MLS Suspends Lionel Messi and Alba After All-Star No-Show.

That’s a big blow as the club chases a top spot in the Eastern Conference.

Owner Jorge Mas didn’t hold back. “Messi is extremely upset. I don’t agree with the rule, and I’ve made my thoughts known to the commissioner very plainly,” – he said.

MLS insists the rule keeps every All-Star committed.

Critics counter that the league should cut marquee players some slack, especially someone of Messi’s stature with a packed schedule.

Fans will have to wait at least one more match to see the Argentine icon back in action.
