Mmesoma Ejikeme, the 19-year-old candidate in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has issued a formal apology to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The board had accused Ejikeme of result forgery after she claimed a score of 362, while her official score was 249.

In a letter read before the House of Representatives ad hoc committee on manipulation, Ejikeme expressed remorse for her actions and acknowledged the wrongfulness of her behavior.
She assured the committee on Wednesday that such misconduct would not be repeated and requested leniency.
Furthermore, she emphasized that she had never engaged in examination malpractice before.

Her letter read:
“I humbly seek your forgiveness for the mistake I made. I sincerely agree that I got the JAMB result from another portal. In the course of this, I lambasted JAMB; I apologise.
“I want you to temper justice with mercy.
“Words cannot describe the depth of pain in my heart. This is the first time I will be doing this, I have never engaged in falsification or any misdemeanour,”
She was allowed to read her apology letter in an investigative hearing by the House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee to probe the matter.
The committee was headed by Sada Soli.
