A pastor is currently receiving medical attention, after being beaten to a pulp by a mob.
According to reports, the clergyman was mistaken for a thief while he was having fun with a woman in the bush.
The incident was reported to have happened in Jwelu village, Kakumu Sub-location, Ramula Location, within Rachuonyo East Sub-county, Kenya.
It was gathered that some residents had spotted a car in the thicket, and due to the alarming rate of livestock theft mistook the car for that of thieves.
They approached the vehicle and found the man of God with a woman. When questioned, the pastor attempted to flee and was captured and beaten by the mob.
Another group of mob set his car ablaze and continued to assault the man before someone who knows him came to his rescue. By now the woman had fled the scene of the assault.
The clergyman was subsequently rushed to the hospital for medical attention, as he had suffered serious injuries.
Confirming the incident, the Rachuonyo East Police Commander, Laban Omol said the police has began investigation into the matter, and a manhunt has been launched for the perpetrators.
“The officers will engage with residents to help establish the truth of what happened,” Omol said.
“Let residents avoid taking the law into their own hands, as doing so can unjustly punish innocent people,” he added.
